1899 Queen Victoria Veil Head Gold Sovereign About Brilliant Uncirculated
£1,100.00
The 1899 Veiled Head Gold Sovereign of Victoria is a classic late-Victorian issue, struck by The Royal Mint during the final decade of her reign. The Veiled Head (or “Old Head”) portrait is one of the most recognisable designs in British coinage.
The obverse features the dignified veiled portrait of Queen Victoria, designed by Thomas Brock, while the reverse displays the iconic St George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci, widely regarded as one of the finest motifs in numismatic history.
Struck in gold, the sovereign was a cornerstone of British currency and international trade. This example is graded About Brilliant Uncirculated, retaining strong original lustre with only light wear, making it an attractive and high-quality collector piece.
Highly sought after by gold coin collectors, sovereign specialists and Victorian numismatists, the 1899 Veiled Head Sovereign is a timeless and desirable addition to any British coin collection.
