1901 Queen Victoria Veil Head Halfcrown Very Fine Toned
ETH58.00
The 1901 Queen Victoria Veil Head Halfcrown is a significant late-Victorian silver coin struck during the final year of the reign of Victoria. As one of the last halfcrowns issued under Queen Victoria, it holds strong historical and numismatic appeal.
The obverse features the elegant Veil Head, or “Old Head”, portrait of Queen Victoria designed by Thomas Brock, while the reverse displays the ornate crowned shield design associated with Victorian silver coinage.
Struck in silver, the halfcrown carried a face value of two shillings and sixpence and circulated widely throughout Britain. This example is graded Very Fine, retaining strong detail across the major design elements with moderate circulation wear, and features attractive natural toning that enhances its eye appeal and originality.
Highly sought after by Victorian coin collectors, silver enthusiasts and British numismatists, the 1901 Veil Head Halfcrown is a historic and desirable addition to any British coin collection.
